E D U C A T I O N  &
T R A I N I N G

Unofficially, I've been training as a photographer since I was a child. The good old fashioned way; trial and error. The pictures were terrible but I had no idea, I just loved the power I had to pause a moment in time.

Officially, I earned my Associates Degree in Photographic Technology from Carteret Community College in Morehead City, North Carolina in 2012. Experience and training received included a wide variety of mediums including;
  • Wedding & Engagement Photography
  • Commercial Photography
  • Portraiture
  • Documentary Photography
  • Photojournalism
  • Graphic & Web Design Basics
  • Digital Photography Editing
  • Travel Photography
  • Film & Processing
  • Small and Large Format Film
In 2015, our military family relocated to Vermont. Initially, I worked for the wonderful digital advertising and web design agency, Northeast Kingdom Online. There, I gained further experience in the commercial industry, conducting photography for a wide variety of businesses.
In 2016, I took the leap and opened up a photography studio and continued growing my experience in portraiture photography. Though I no longer offer studio photography(found out that I would much rather be on the go,) it did give me a thorough understanding of light and how it works in photography.
Most recently, I have been expanding my knowledge in portraiture and the wedding photography industry. The online education offered by Katelyn James Photography Education has literally flipped my business for the better. I've gained a powerful understanding of light, location, consistency and posing from what I consider to be one of the best wedding photographers in the world.

I'm far from done with learning and gaining experience. Every single wedding I complete teaches me something new. Please reach out if you have any questions about my experience, I'm happy to answer.
